World Habitat Day 2013

The United Nations General Assembly has declared the first Monday in October to be World Habitat Day. This is a time to recognize the basic need for adequate shelter in a world where it is lacking for so many.

The purpose of World Habitat Day is to reflect on  the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate  shelter. It is also intended to remind the world that we all have  responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns.

We provide safe, decent, affordable housing for low-income families and individuals in Itasca County. Our homes are sold with a 0%, 30 year mortgage and the downpayment is $500 plus 300 to 600 hours of sweat equity. The ReStore is used and surplus home improvement store. All the items in the ReStore for sale are donated and the proceeds go towards building more Habitat homes in Itasca County. The ReStore is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday.
