Meet the ReStore Manager

Matt Selleck is our ReStore Manager. Read on to get to know Matt!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in the little town of Cameron, Wisconsin.

What is your work background?

I graduated from University of Wisconsin-River Falls with my bachelor’s degree in sociology and minor in criminal justice. After college, I worked for almost 4 years with Champaign County Habitat for Humanity in Champaign, Illinois while [my wife] Briana was attending veterinary school. I worked with the ReStore, in the administrative office, and on construction builds during my time there and gained a great general understanding of the mission of Habitat for Humanity along with making lifelong friends along the way.

What inspires you? Why do you like working for Habitat for Humanity?

The uplifting and selfless nature of the people I work with helps drive me in everything I do. Hearing the stories of everyone who walks through the door motivates me to help meet their needs and provide the best quality of service I can give. Knowing that our hard work at the store results in helping give a family a hand up in owning their own home is empowering and makes my role feel like more than just a career.   The spontaneous and fun environment of the ReStore also makes every day interesting!

Who is your hero?

My parents.

What do you do outside of work?

I currently live in Grand Rapids with my wife, Briana. She works as a veterinarian at North Country Veterinary Clinic.  We have two dogs (Sallie and Penny), two cats (Beckett and Brooks), and a pet turtle (Tilly).  Our first child was born in June 2019! I enjoy fishing, hiking, traveling, camping, running around with our dogs and playing board games.

What is something quirky and unique about you?

I enjoy Quentin Tarantino movies, and also playing with Legos whenever I get the chance!

Thanks for reading! We’re glad to have such a kind and hardworking person on our team at Itasca Habitat! To learn more about what goes on at the ReStore, visit our website.
