December 10th is Human Rights Day, the anniversary of the United Nations adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Habitat for Humanity works to address the right to adequate shelter. In addition to building new homes and working on home preservation projects, Habitat also advocates for policies that make safe, adequate housing more affordable for low-income families and individuals.
You can take part in affordable housing advocacy by signing petitions, donating, or becoming involved in advocacy work right here in Itasca County. To learn more about Habitat’s affordable housing activism, and find more ways to get involved, visit Habitat for Humanity International’s website.
